Dry hydrotherapy (also known as hydromassage, aqua massage, or water massage) is a treatment using hot water in a device such as a table or chair that moves around the person in a massaging or pulsating manner. It has internal jets that rotate and pulsate while releasing streams of heated water along the body. The water pressure on the body provides a massage. It is used to relieve pain and regulate blood circulation. Hydrotherapy has a positive effect on the body by combining the effects of massage therapy, acupressure, thermotherapy and soft tissue manipulation.
In what cases is hydrotherapy used:
- Relaxation: hydromassage is actively used to reduce stress.
- Pain Relief: Hydromassage reduces muscle tension and lower back pain.
- Post-Exercise Therapy: Hydrotherapy is often used to relieve post-exercise soreness.
- Immune health: Hydromassage has a positive effect on the immune system. It reduces the risk of developing lower respiratory tract infections.
